Expression of Interest: Makers & Creators - Reading

Makers and Creators is coming to READING!

Thanks to the Sage Foundation, we'll be running a FREE 5-day programme for 8 - 16 year olds in coding, robotics and electronics during the summer holidays. There will be volunteer mentors from Sage on-hand to help and support you in creating your own project which you will showcase at our Show and Tell at the end of the week. It's up to you if you want to build your project as part of a team, or if you want to go it alone - either way there will be plenty of people to help you out.

Throughout the week we'll be exploring BBC Micro:bits and Raspberry Pi's, as well as learning how to hack Minecraft using python!

What do I need to know?

An understanding of drag & drop programmes, as well as python coding.

What do I need to bring?

- Tech for Life will provide laptops for all attendees. We will also issue USB sticks so that projects can be taken home

- Lunch isn't provided so you will need to bring a packed lunch with you.

Timings

Monday - Thursday

8.30 - 10am Drop-off wraparound STEM activites
10am - 12pm - Session input
12pm - 1pm - Lunch
1pm - 3:30pm - Project creation
3:30pm - 5.30pm - Pick up and wraparound STEM activities

Friday

8:30 - 10:30am - Drop-off wraparound STEM activities
10am - Work on projects for Show and Tell
12pm - Lunch
1pm -Show & Tell for parents/guardians, mentors, and sponsors
3pm - Pick up

Parental Consent

Closer to the time, we will send consent forms for your parents/guardians to sign, therefore please ensure we have a correct email address for you/your parents.

Limited spaces

We have limited spaces for Makers & Creators. At present we're collecting expressions of interest for the programe with the aim of getting in touch with those attendees who have successfully been accepted by mid June.
